Commander Lippold's initial sea duty assignment was in USS FAIRFAX COUNTY (LST 1193) as Main Propulsion Assistant, later assuming duties as Engineer Officer. This was followed by assignment to USS YORKTOWN (CG 48) as Communications Officer and Combat Information Center Officer. Subsequent to the completion of Surface Warfare Officer School Command, Department Head Course, in 1989, he was ordered to the commissioning crew of USS ARLEIGH BURKE (DDG 51) as Operations Officer. His last at sea assignment was as Executive Officer of USS SHILOH (CG 67). Commander Lippold attended the Naval Postgraduate School from 1987 to 1989 and received a Masters of Science in Systems Engineering (Joint Command, Control and Communications). He is also a 1994 graduate of the United States Army's Command and General Staff College. His most recent assignment was as the Administrative Aide to the Secretary of the Navy. Commander Lippold's personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy Achievement Medal (two awards), in addition to various campaign and service ribbons. |
