Lieutenant Commander Peterschmidt received his commission in the Navy in 1987. Lieutenant Commander Peterschmidts initial sea duty assignment was in USS YORKTOWN (CG 48) as Main Propulsion Assistant. Following completion of the Surface Warfare Officer School Command, Department Head Course, in 1994, he was ordered to USS VELLA GULF (CG 72) as Engineer Officer. Lieutenant Commander Peterschmidt attended the Naval Postgraduate School from 1991 to 1993 and received a Masters of Science degree in Physics. He is also a 1999 graduate of the Naval War College where he received a Masters of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies. He also served on the Navy Staff (OPNAV N86) in Washington DC as the Anti-Air Defense Commander Requirements Officer and Administrative Aide to the Director of Surface Warfare. Lieutenant Commander Peterschmidts personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy Achievement Medal, in addition to various service medals and ribbons. |
