Yemeni president received Hamas leaders

Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Saleh received afternoon Saturday 4/5/2002 a delegation from the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, led by Khaled Mishaal, political bureau chief of the Movement. The delegation also included deputy chief Dr. Mousa Abu Marzouk, political bureau member Khaled Nazzal and Hamas representative in Yemen Eng. Muneer Saeed. Yemeni vice president Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi also attended the meeting.

The meeting took place at conclusion of the delegation’s official one week visit to Yemen during which the delegates also met with Sheikh Abdullah bin Hussein Al-Ahmar the parliament speaker.

The delegates also met with Abdul Aziz Abdul Ghani, chief of the Shoura council, Dr. Abdul Qader Bajammal, the premier, Dr. Abu Bakr Al-Qirbi, the foreign minister and Dr. Abdul Karim Al-Iryani, the secretary general of the general popular conference.

The delegates further met with a delegation of the general secretariat of the general popular conference led by Brig. Yehya Al-Mutawakel, the assistant secretary general, and a delegation of the Yemeni congregation for reform headed by Mohammed Abdullah Al-Yadoumi.

The Hamas delegation attended numerous popular activities and meetings including those with leaders of Yemeni parties and members in the parliament and Shoura council along with Palestinian, Arab and Islamic communities residing in Yemen.
