Pakistan says no to WSJ Pearl report
Pakistan says no to WSJ Pearl report

KARACHI, Pakistan, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Pakistani police Wednesday questioned a Wall Street Journal report that Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed killed reporter Daniel Pearl.

Karachi officials told the BCC they thoroughly investigated Pearl's 2002 abduction and killing and found no evidence of Khalid's involvement.

Another terrorist, Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, was convicted in Pakistan last year in Pearl's kidnapping and murder, and sentenced to death. Three accomplices were sentenced to life in prison.

However, the Journal on Tuesday said U.S. officials had "credible, corroborated information" that Khalid killed Pearl.

The inspector general of police for Sindh Province told the BBC he was unaware of the Journal's report and he invited U.S. officials to share any information they may have with Pakistani authorities.
