New threats leveled by alleged al-Qaida strategist
Email story to a friend

London-AP -- Another interview has surfaced, in which a man identified as a top al-Qaida leader is threatening new attacks on the U-S.

In the interview, he warns the U-S to quickly leave the Mideast and Afghanistan -- or risk losing "everything."

He also threatens new attacks on America's allies and its economy.

The interview was obtained by Associated Press Television News on video compact disc. It's purportedly with Osama bin Laden's top deputy, Ayman al-Zawahri (uh-MEEN' al-zawl-HEHR'-ee).

He's regarded as a primary strategist for al-Qaida, and is believed to have survived the bombing in Afghanistan.

The speaker is not shown on the video disc. But he's heard accusing the U-S of trying -- through its campaign against Iraq -- to subjugate the Arab world on behalf of Israel.

The authenticity of the interview could not be independently confirmed.
